Company News Release

(June 10, 2009; Philadelphia, PA)

-American College of Radiology (ACR) Image Metrix, an imaging contract research organization, has opened its new headquarters, providing much needed office space for the growing organization in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Previously, ACR Image Metrix occupied office space within the ACR Clinical Research Center in Philadelphia.  The new space establishes a unique identity for ACR Image Metrix’ offices and is conveniently located adjacent to the ACR imaging and radiation therapy quality assurance core laboratories. The new laboratories have doubled in size to meet the growing demands for ACR Image Metrix, as well as the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG).

In addition to providing space for the growing core lab staff, the 10,000 square foot facility also includes two dedicated learning labs designed for researchers to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform new imaging techniques and interpret the resulting images.

The imaging lab has evolved to include a focus on the increasing challenges associated with the novel imaging techniques used in imaging clinical trials, such as MRI, DCE-MRI, PET, CT, ultra sound, quantitative image processing, testing new imaging agents and evaluating imaging as a biomarker.  The core lab was also expanded to include the RTOG personnel and tools required to carry out the radiation therapy quality assurance activities.

ACR Image Metrix held an open house Monday, June 8, at their new office and core labs. Among those in attendance were academia, local medical institutions, medical device and pharmaceutical companies, and members of ACR. The open house included a full tour of the core labs, accommodating up to 30 readers, with access to the key scientific experts and core lab personnel.

“The new core lab is a much needed expansion of ACR Image Metrix’ capabilities,” stated Chief Scientific Officer, Bruce J. Hillman, M.D. FACR.  “With the accelerated inflow of new business, the new facilities are arriving just in time.”

The state-of-the-art imaging core lab has also played a key role in the early success of ACR Image Metrix.  General Manager of ACR Image Metrix, Mike Morales, expects the core lab expansion will help sustain the growth it has been experiencing with its key customer groups.  “The fact that it offers both radiation oncology and radiology imaging expertise makes this the most diverse imaging core laboratory in the world,” Morales stated.
