GLP-1 receptor agonists have transformed the landscape of obesity and metabolic disorder management, offering unprecedented efficacy in weight reduction and metabolic health. As clinical development in this therapeutic area accelerates, understanding both the clinical impact and operational nuances of GLP-1 trials is critical for sponsors and CROs aiming to optimize study outcomes.
In this session, Kimball A. Johnson, MD, a leading principal investigator at CenExel Decatur, will provide a deep dive into the clinical and scientific underpinnings of GLP-1 therapies, drawing from her extensive experience conducting pivotal human trials. She will explore the broader health implications of these agents, share insights on managing adverse events, and discuss strategies for ensuring patient retention and high-quality data collection. Attendees will also gain perspective on comparing molecules such as semaglutide, tirzepatide, and emerging dual and triple agonists, as well as the evolving landscape of obesity and metabolic disorder research.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Understand the mechanisms of action, clinical efficacy, and safety profiles of current and emerging GLP-1 therapies.
- Gain practical insights into managing adverse events and optimizing patient adherence in clinical trials.
- Learn best practices for trial design, patient recruitment, and long-term follow-up in obesity and metabolic disorder studies.
- Explore the future of incretin-based therapies and their potential impact on patient health and clinical research priorities.
- Appreciate the perspective of a principal investigator on how sponsor and CRO collaboration can drive successful study outcomes.
Who Should Attend:
- Sponsors and study teams developing GLP-1 and obesity-related trials
