PharmaNet Demonstrates Commitment to Supporting Public Education Worldwide
Boston, MA, June 30, 2008- On Monday June 23, 2008, the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) held their 2008 Annual Meeting. Board Chairman, Ken Getz, and President & CEO Diane Simmons, recognized PharmaNet as this year’s award recipient for “Supporting the Development of Educational Materials.” Through their collaboration with CISCRP, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, PharmaNet made possible the development of country-specific brochures that educate the public about the risks and benefits of volunteering for clinical research studies. Since patient protections and resources are not uniform across the globe, PharmaNet addressed this issue through their support of educational tools that identify government, disease-specific, and industry resources for residents of 12 different nations including: Argentina, Brazil, Canada (French speaking), Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Spain, and the Ukraine.
Accepting the award on behalf of PharmaNet’s Clinical Recruitment Group was Christine Rhoda, Senior Director, Clinical Research from PharmaNet’s Boston office. According to Ms. Rhoda, “Anybody who is participating in a clinical trial, no matter what part of the world, needs to be adequately informed about participation.” All the attendees at the CISCRP Annual Meeting applauded PharmaNet for helping to address this critical issue.
