The EU has announced a new regulation - number 536/2014 - for clinical trials, which is planned to come into force not before 28th May 2016. It is an important step because it sets out the requirements for a single clinical trial approval portal and the content of clinical trial applications to be standardized.

The International Academy of Clinical Research (IAoCR) welcomes the news today from the Nursing and Midwifery Council that it is introducing three-yearly checks for nurses and midwifes from the end of 2015 to ensure they are fit to practice.

This is certainly a question that stimulates a great deal of debate amongst industry professionals, even those working in Pharma companies that explicitly request all CRAs working on their projects have at least 2 years? prior experience

There is currently no set of standards for how individuals acquire the ability to perform satisfactorily and demonstrate the required levels of competence.
