2026 SCRS Global Site Solutions Summit: What Does Embedding Research into Existing Physician Practices Require?
Javara CEO Jennifer Byrne talks about the requirements for embedding clinical trials directly into physician practices and why solving the “last mile” of trial participation means building infrastructure at the actual point of care.
Jennifer Byrne, CEO and founder, Javara, explains that embedding research directly into existing physician practices requires working alongside healthcare organizations to integrate research at the actual point of care.
She notes that focusing on best practices and leveraging the technologies already in place within physician groups and health systems, with the goal of matching the right trial to the right patient through their existing, trusted physician at the right time. She frames this work in the context of the broader research-site landscape, noting that while various models exist across the industry, they’re ultimately all trying to solve the same problem: reducing friction within a health system so that clinicians and supporting staff can navigate clinical research more easily.
Byrne then points to the practical payoff of this model for sponsors and CROs. Across Javara’s existing healthcare partners, plus a new partner to be announced before year’s end, the company is directly reaching 19 million patients across eight different states, representing a wide demographic range. For sponsors this translates into efficient access to insights from a large, diverse patient population. Beyond sheer reach, Byrne emphasizes that Javara brings the infrastructure, people, process, and technology, working together with the healthcare organization, to actually enable participation, addressing what she calls the “last mile” of clinical trials.
That infrastructure puts Javara directly at the point of care alongside the clinician, investigator, and patient, allowing the team to convert a prospective patient with an unmet medical need into an active clinical trial participant.
